Farmer: "We learned to grow corn ourselves"
This flat green patch of corn belongs to Taalaibek Biybaev from the village of Tortkul Tonsky district. His wife, Shaigul Bekturova participated in the work of the “Growing Vegetables” group for three years, and this year the family decided to independently grow corn on their shared plot . Now Taalaibek, together with his son Bekniyaz, actively cares for the crops: weeds, loosens the soil and waters the plants
“Last year, together with female farmers, we planted silage corn on an area of 1.5 hectares. This year, using last year’s experience and the advice of trainer Erkin Sadyrova , we were able to grow a good harvest. We added seeds and saltpeter, but did not use any other chemical fertilizers. Now we have confidence in our own strengths," the farmer shares.
Corn silage is a nutritious feed for any livestock
In 2025, the number of farmers who started planting silage corn increased in the village of Tortkul in the Ton district. They understand that silage is a high-calorie and nutritious feed that any livestock likes. In addition, compared to roughage, 40-50 tons more green mass can be obtained from a hectare of corn silage.
Taalaibek plans to harvest and make silage on time. He notes that last year, thanks to the silage made by a group of women farmers, his farm was able to survive the winter successfully: sheep, goats and cattle emerged from the winter in good condition. Now the farmer shares his knowledge with fellow villagers, talks about the nutritional value of silage and gives advice on how to make it correctly.
